Junior Data Engineer Intern - Summer 2026
Job Description:
The Data Engineer is responsible for combining internal and external data sources enabling data analysts to create business-relevant insights. The candidate will be able to orchestrate data pipelines, create new data aggregation schemas and propose unique ways to efficiently combine multiple data sources enabling data driven decision-making for internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
Extracts and manipulates large amounts of data in Python, PySpark, and SQL to combine data sources and consistently harmonize the digital footprint of Allison products
Deploys and orchestrates data pipelines hydrating dashboards while retaining proper documentation and version control practices
Optimizes data delivery methods for data analysts and scientists without impacting day-to-day operations for internal stakeholders
Proposes novel ways to deliver business insights, designs new schemas and data models, documents any data discrepancy
Performs automated testing following modern software development practices for data consistency, data lineage, and version control
Performs integration of external services through API protocols
Qualifications / Experience
Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or STEM-related field.
Less than three years of experience in a corporate environment
Proven ability to efficiently manipulate large data volumes in Python and/or PySpark and create complex, multi-statement queries in SQL
Demonstrated ability to create value from data through visualization (Power BI)
Managing larger data repositories and pipelines >100GB
